INFRARED SERVICE
Examination of artwork
We have been manufacturing our own equipment for the examination of artwork since 1987, when we established Infrared Service, the world’s first service for the on-site examination of artwork, in New York.
Our equipment has been used in: The Metropolitan Museum, The Museum of Modern Art, The Guggenheim Museum, The Morgan Library, The Cooper Hewitt Museum, New York University’s Institute of Fine Art, The National Gallery Washington, The National Gallery London, Christie’s London, Christie’s New York and in some of the world’s leading Old Masters Galleries.
We are now offering for sale our newly designed ART INSPECTOR - the first portable, easy to use and inexpensive art inspecting device.
ART INSPECTOR:
-
Provides instant examination of paintings, drawings, prints, maps, manuscripts and documents to help in the study of attribution, chronology, restoration, and forgery detection.
-
Does not require special laboratory conditions and allows, under any light conditions, immediate viewing of details invisible to the naked eye.
-
Detects working methods, underlying sketches, artist’s alterations, legends, dates, details, signatures and restorations not visible to the eye.
-
Distinguishes between pigments, inks and dyes which are visually identical but represent different chemical compounds.
-
Reveals indistinct writings, invisible inks, obliterations, chemical bleaching, erasures, overwriting and water stamps.
